“Always laugh when you can. It is cheap medicine.” – Lord Byron
Medicine is not a science; it is empiricism founded on a network of blunders.
The best and most efficient pharmacy is within your own system.
Pharmaceutics is the discipline of pharmacy that deals with all facets of the process of turning a new chemical entity (NCE) into a safe and effective medication. Pharmaceutics is the science of dosage form design. Pharmaceutics deals with the formulation of a pure drug substance into a dosage form.
Pharmaceutics is a subject that is included in all four years of B.Pharm.
Pharmaceutics is the study of relationships between drug formulation, delivery, disposition and clinical response. At the University of Washington, it encompasses a molecular evaluation of drug metabolism and transport processes and the study of genetic, environmental and disease-related factors that regulate or perturb those processes, as well as the fundamental mathematical relationships between enzyme/transporter function, blood concentration-time profiles and the spectrum of pharmacological effects.
In two years of U.G. course the student will learn different aspects of pharmacognosy such as identification of medicinal and aromatic plants , isolation and estimation of important therapeutically active phytoconstituents from plants, formulate and standardize various herbal products, use the latest techniques for search of new products, quality control of herbal drugs and basic requirement for establishment of herbal drug industry.
Pharmacology is the science concerned with all aspects of the action of drugs and other chemicals on living systems. Its primary aim is the discovery of chemical mechanisms by which cellular and molecular functions are regulated for the purpose of understanding how existing drugs act and to develop new drugs for treatment and diagnosis of human diseases. The discipline of pharmacology explores biology through the actions of drugs and chemical substances. Drugs and chemicals produce their effects only through modifications of underlying biological systems; their actions are useful in regulating not only normal functions of cells and organisms but also the abnormal processes which occur in disease.
